Hello Forward Stride Family,
We hope this email finds you safe and healthy! Our staff and herd are staying healthy but we miss all of our clients, volunteers, families, and supporters deeply. This time allows for self-reflection, connecting more deeply with family members and housemates, learning how to make long distance connections in innovative ways, or picking up a new hobby.
We are working on plans to slowly reopen onsite programming, starting with clients who can safely maintain physical distancing. We will be taking many things into consideration such as how burdened our local medical system is and how confident we are that staff and clients can operate in safe circumstances. We do not have a firm open date at this time as we are waiting for more guidance from the government.
We are pleased to report that we have over ten clients participating in our telemedicine offerings! If you missed the email announcing these services, you can read it here.
Now especially, we are thankful that our Giddyup Gala on February 29th was such a success. Thus far we have been able to “weather the storm”. However, we estimate a revenue deficit of approximately $120,000 due to the shut down and possibly very limited reopening this spring. We are also anticipating the need to reduce group lessons and Rehabilitation Services sessions through summer and possibly beyond, creating further deficits. We have identified the need to raise $250,000 in the next six months. With this in mind, we are actively seeking alternate funding sources including the Paycheck Protection Program loan, grant opportunities, and most importantly, engaging the people who make our organization thrive – YOU! We are asking for your help to move us forward. Here are a few ways that you can do it!
Janet and John Stedman are challenging the community to sponsor a horse by paying “board” for our Forward Stride Herd while they are unemployed. They are sponsoring Sindar. To find out which horses are available, please click here.
Continue to donate cleaning supplies, especially alcohol, so we can continue to spray down gate latches and other high touch areas.
Donate your time to sew masks for staff so that we can remain safe once we reopen onsite services.
Thank YOU for being part of our family! You help sustain our mission to provide exceptional care, therapy, and support to all Forward Stride participants, human and equine, no matter the circumstances. Missing you and hope to see you soon!

In 16 years of service we’ve never had to close our doors to our community. This is a hard time for all but together we know that we will make it through. Your donation makes a difference.
