As an Occupational Therapist, Julie is in charge of leading sessions with her clients. She works toward their identified goals while using the movement and presence of the horse. She communicates the specific needs for a successful session to the therapy team, while prioritizing the safety of the client, the therapist team, and herself. Julie has spent six years as an Occupational Therapist. She has more than three decades of owning, riding, driving, & being responsible for the well being of her own horse as well as horses she’s had the pleasure of caring for.
She has completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the American Hippotherapy Association courses as well as a variety of courses focusing on sensory processing and modulation, Therapeutic Listening, the Wilbarger Therapressure protocol, and Handwriting without Tears. Julie enjoys walking her dogs with her life partner Tom, working in her garden, and being near the ocean or out in the woods, especially while on trail rides.
