After a long and distinguished career, we are announcing the retirement of therapy horse and former mounted police horse Olin. He served on the Portland Mounted Patrol for nine years and, upon their disbanding in 2017, he was given a second career with Forward Stride. We are so glad that we could be part of his journey and grateful for the impact that he had on many of our clients.

On May 8th, Olin will be returning to the folks who owned him before he went to the Mounted Patrol. They originally rescued him from the Premarin facility on which he was born and they are excited to welcome him back into their family. We honor his years of service and wish him a relaxing retirement in Central Oregon.

Two of our mares have also retired. On Valentine’s Day, Meg went back to her owners to live out the rest of her life in relaxation. At the ripe old age of 32, we think it’s a great time for her to start taking things a little easier! On April 4th, Lady returned to her previous owner in Montana to try out a different career path as a surrogate mare. We think her sweet personality will make her the best momma ever! We wish both mares well on the next steps of their respective journeys.

Our horses are the backbone of our work and their health and happiness is paramount to our success. If you are interested in sponsoring a member of our herd, you can learn more here!
