Here’s a bit about Lily and Christy!
How long have you been volunteering at Forward Stride and why did you start?
We attended Open Barn at Forward Stride when Lily was about 9, and found out she could volunteer when she turned 12, so she applied on her 12th birthday! We started just after she turned 13, two summers ago. Lily loves spending time with horses. For Christy, feeding the horses is a way to support the programs that make a difference in the lives of so many people. Since we do AM feed, we especially enjoy sunrises at the farm.
Who is your favorite horse?
We both like the ponies because we’re short people. We appreciate Pippin’s sweetness, Thistle’s spunk, and Ellie and Taffy’s friendship with each other.
Do you have a hobby you love to spend time on?
We both enjoy books and crafts. Christy also volunteers at the Aloha library, and Lily loves to do art and piano. (And math!)
What is one piece of advice you would give a new volunteer?
Appreciate the wonderful support you get from your fellow volunteers, and enjoy the privilege of being part of the Forward Stride community.
