Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a type of mental health therapy that incorporates the experience of interacting with a horse into the therapeutic work. Clients get to be (unmounted) in a small, private arena with a horse, a mental health therapist, and an equine specialist who collectively are called the “therapeutic team.” Horses offer valuable therapeutic benefit via their physical presence, their behavioral responses to clients’ interactions, and their partnership in various unmounted activities. While beneficial and appropriate for any client, EAP is particularly suited for clients who have not found traditional mental health therapy to be useful and/or clients who find verbal processing alone to be intimidating or challenging.

We do not bill insurance, however, we are able to provide a “superbill,” which you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You are welcome to consult with program staff to see if your insurance will reimburse. We also offer limited financial assistance to clients with financial hardship, depending on available funding.

Individual & Family Sessions

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential therapy led by a licensed mental health professional and a certified equine specialist, tailored to address specific treatment goals. Working with horses offers a distinctive kind of feedback that is exclusive to this approach and gives the client a more holistic treatment experience. We offer sessions for individuals or families. Registration and placement occurs on a rolling basis.
